Planning has been granted for the extensive refurbishment and extension of this Grade II* listed Georgian terraced house.

The brick and stucco property forms part of a grand early nineteenth century terrace of houses on the West side of Eaton place. Careful analysis of the historic, physical and legal contexts formed our sensitive response to this magnificent building.
The removal of unsympathetic changes to the plan, and non-original secondary staircases, not only restored much of the plan form but also justified the addition of a lift serving each of the flats.

The proposal also replaced the early 20th century roof addition with a dormered mansard roof. This created a design which was sympathetic to the building and in keeping with the rest of the terrace, with significant public benefit. This, along with the restoration of the facade and removal of redundant services, was seen by Heritage Officers as justification for the creation of the roof terrace serving the top level duplex apartment.

With this approach we were able to gain consent to reconfigure the plan to a former glory, replace an unsympathetic modern upper storey, sensitivity position a lift and restore original finishes throughout the building.
