Working as Delivery Architect for Design & Build Contractor Synergy Property Group, Atomik’s role was to co-ordinate the designs of the two lead designers and other consultants.

With around 250,000 students taking their exams every year in 85 countries, the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is one of the largest and most influential dance education and training organisations in the world.

The fully accessible new headquarters includes:

• Eight full-size dance studios with sprung floors and high specification sound equipment;
• A performance theatre (178 capacity) with full lighting rig and sound desk;
• A library and archive that will house and display many of its original costume and dance artefacts; and
• A new retail space and large café for members, visitors and tourists.

The original masterplan of Avanton:Battersea (which also includes 299 apartments and communal landscaped gardens) was designed by Patel Taylor Architects, with the interior design of the RAD being led by Takero Shimazaki.
