Opened in August 2024, Goodbye Horses is a wine bar in De Beauvoir Town, Islington.
Designed by the Swiss Architect, Leopold Banchini, and inspired by British folklore and Japanese Mingei, the former pub is light filled and whimsical. Raw, natural materials include rough-cast walls, mud and clay floor and volcanic stone as doormats. The artist, Lucy Stein, has hand painted a Noguchi-esque paper lampshade with a mythological mural which is also seen on the floor to ceiling curtains. These ethereal materials are counteracted by the statement ten-metre-long sculptural oak bar made from the same tree.
Atomik assisted with compliance and CDM for the project. Allowing the lead designer to realise their vision within the UK regulatory framework.
